Make your passion your paycheck 👊🏻 ⠀⠀⠀ Make your passion your paycheck 👊🏻
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Truth be told, I didn’t originally go to school for anything web-related. I thought I wanted to go into marketing, so I got a fancy business degree and eagerly jumped into my “career”. I had no clue what I wanted to do besides maybe climb the corporate ladder? Who knows.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
At that same time, I started a small blog for my family and friends, and inadvertently stumbled into the world of CSS and HTML.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
After my 9-5, I’d spend hours reading tutorials on coding while picking apart themes to see how they were built. It was so exciting to me! I began begging friends to let me design and code (ok, tweak!) a theme for them.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
One night, my hubby said, “You know people get paid for doing this, right?” And suddenly, I had this wild dream form about actually doing it. Could I?! I took a major leap of faith and enrolled in web development and graphic design classes online.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
After graduating, I worked at night and on weekends for years while also working my regular job. It was a hard hustle, but I slowly formed and refined my skillset. I fell in love with WordPress and the world of coding. And you know what? It never got old. It never got boring.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It was then that I realized the old cliché was true: When you do something you love, it won’t feel like work. Now, more than a decade after my “Aha!” moment, I’m living my absolute dream with Made to Thrive.
